I plan on making a blog post every day, for the foreseeable future. But I don’t want to over burden any of you with massive amounts of information, so I will post 1-2 big, impactful posts a week that are filled with information, inspiration, and good stuff to fill up your heart and soul. On the days in between, my goal is to leave you with little pieces of inspiration to take with you throughout your day.
Today’s Inspiration: Do what makes your light shine brighter. Today’s post is a guided meditation for those of you who are in a moment of frustration, fear, self doubt, or idleness. If you have found yourself asking, “what do I do to get out of my current state?” Or “how can I get unstuck, and get to the next level in my life?”, then this meditation is for you!
Sit or lie down in a comfortable position. Take some deep breathes.
Imagine... all of your frustrations that are weighing you down right now. When I do this meditation, I visualize all of the hateful things that could ever be said about my body, and how I feel when I say those things to myself.
Put all of these thoughts into a big basket. As you breathe in, imagine how the thought makes you feel, and as you breath out, release it into the basket.
Burn it... Now... take out a (theoretical) match, and blow up that basket. And let your body blow up with it. Yes, that’s right. Let everything physical that you are attached to go up in flames. Let yourself experience this uncertainty of being nothing; having nothing. I encourage you to sit in this feeling for several breathes.
Embrace what’s left... Then, notice that there is a small ember left. But that little ember is actually you! Its your light that you have inside you all the time, and you have just set it free. Sit for a moment in admiration of this light.
Now ask yourself again, “what should I do in this moment of uncertainty?” The answer is always to do whatever makes your light shine brighter.
Will sending a nasty response to your boss make your light shine brighter? Will watching TV for 3 hours to numb out make your light shine brighter? Will eating all the things to numb your feelings make your light shine brighter? Will saying mean things about yourself or others make your light shine brighter?
Maybe sometimes to some of your questions the answer is yes! Maybe sometimes it really would make your light shine brighter to lye in bed all day and watch Netflix. But make sure you are coming from a place of love and compassion for yourself when making these decisions. If the choice doesn’t feel like its enhancing your light, just make sure it is not diminishing it, and go from there.
